Outerwear QA specialist (Total Annual Compensation up-to 30,000 USD)

We are looking for an Outerwear QA Specialist to support product quality throughout the development and production process, working closely with Technical Design (TD), Product Development, and factory QC teams.

The role will translate product specifications and technical requirements into clear quality standards, identify quality risks during development, support product testing and validation, and ensure factories consistently execute approved standards in production.

1. Product Quality & Technical Standards

• Work closely with TD and Product Development to understand product specifications, construction, materials, fit, performance, and functional requirements.
• Translate technical requirements into clear and measurable quality standards, inspection points, and acceptance criteria.
• Establish critical-to-quality (CTQ) points for outerwear, including garment measurements, construction, seams, closures, pockets, hoods, cuffs, hems, linings, and key functional details.
• Develop and maintain workmanship standards, defect classification, measurement tolerances, and product quality requirements.
• Identify potential quality and performance risks during product development and recommend preventive actions.

2. Development & Sample Quality

• Partner with TD and Product Development throughout prototype, fit, and development stages to identify and resolve quality issues early.
• Review samples against approved specifications, construction standards, measurements, materials, and workmanship requirements.
• Evaluate garment appearance, construction consistency, symmetry, seam quality, and functional performance.
• Identify root causes of sample defects and work with TD, PD, and factories to implement corrective actions.
• Support size-set, pilot, and pre-production sample reviews to ensure product readiness.

3. Material & Performance Testing

• Support material and finished-product testing according to product requirements and established standards.
• Review testing requirements for:
• Fabric strength and durability
• Tensile and tear strength
• Stretch and recovery
• Dimensional stability and shrinkage
• Colorfastness
• Pilling and abrasion
• Water repellency / waterproof performance where applicable
• Seam strength
• Seam sealing performance where applicable
• Bonding and adhesive performance
• Hardware and trim durability
• Coordinate with laboratories and suppliers to follow up on testing and corrective actions.
• Review test results, identify risks, and communicate failures or concerns to TD, PD, and QA leadership.

4. Construction & Workmanship Quality

• Establish and monitor critical construction standards for outerwear.
• Ensure critical construction details are consistently executed according to approved samples and specifications.
• Identify workmanship risks that may affect garment durability, appearance, comfort, or functionality.

5. Factory & QC Collaboration

• Work closely with factory QC teams to ensure product standards and CTQ requirements are clearly understood and consistently applied.
• Communicate critical inspection points and defect standards to factory QC teams before production.
• Support QC teams in identifying, classifying, and resolving product defects.
• Participate in pre-production meetings, pilot production reviews, and quality inspections when required.
• Follow up on production quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
• Provide technical guidance and training to factory QC teams when needed.

6. Quality Data & Continuous Improvement

• Track product defects, testing results, quality issues, and recurring problems across development and production.
• Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and systemic issues.
• Work with TD, PD, QC, and factories to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify opportunities to improve product construction, materials, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
• Build and maintain a knowledge base of recurring outerwear quality issues, root causes, and best practices.

• 3-7 years of experience in QA, Quality Engineering, Technical, or Product Development within apparel.
• Strong experience with outerwear, jackets, coats, performance apparel, or functional garments is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, sewing techniques, measurements, and workmanship.
• Experience working with factories and QC teams.
• Ability to read and interpret tech packs, BOMs, measurement specifications, construction details, and testing requirements.
• Understanding of apparel testing, inspection systems, and quality standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced product development environment.
